ESC19-00371 General Inspection6/22/20206/22/20206/22/2020 5:08:34 PMAPASS
Dewatering in progress. Pumping from plugged resevoir holding captured stormwater from last weeks rain events.

Conducted turbidity sampling at the discharge point of the unamed stream from the Mesa into Penitentiary Canal at Warm Springs Road:

Background water upstream in Pen Canal of discharge point at Warm Springs Road: 3.91 NTU @ 12:26 PM

Water in unnamed stream prior to discharge to Pen canal: 152 NTU @ 12:28 PM

Water downstream in Pen Canal after discharge: 47.6 NTU @ 12:38 PM (this is still in compliance being less than 50 NTU increase of background water)

Other measurements:

Water flowing from Pen Canal into culvert to ACHD pont 9.83 NTU

Water joining stream after passing through dewatering bag, passing through vegetation and controls installed was 104 NTU @ 12:51 PM

Water in site stormwater holding pond 171 NTU @ 1:03 PM
Water below dewatering bag 100 NTU @ 12:58 PM
Double check of water in bottom of stream prior to discharge to Pen Canal: 149 NTU @ 13:28 PM

The dewatering water is actually getting dirtier (more turbid) as it travels down stream picking up residual mud from previous runoff events and perhaps due to the steepness of this section of stream.

This inspection is a PASS because the background and downstream turbidity at the discharge point is less than 50 NTU and the dewatering water is clear to the naked eye where it is joining the unnamed stream and the system is effectively reducing the turbidity of the water from the holding pond, allowing for the discharge to continue.

Follow up inspection scheduled tomorrow with ACHD and Syman to conduct turbidity testing with different meters to compare results.
