Add, plug and relocate sprinklers to accommodate new wall and ceiling configuration.

The fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and for high rise. Demolition work includes removing existing concrete walls and concrete floor slabs on grade. To remodel a 3,845 square foot area located on the 1st story of St. Alphonsus hospital below the South tower. Work is to include a 584 square foot conference room, a 185 square foot break room, a dressing room with a bench accessible to the disabled, a relocated door in an existing toilet room, a door opening and minimum 20 minute door in a smoke barrier wall at an existing smoke compartment and I-2 rated corridor, new smoke dampers at duct penetrations of smoke barrier walls, a new door opening and an enlarged door opening in an existing 2-hr exit passageway wall and smoke barrier wall, 90 minute fire doors and smoke- and draft-control assemblies installed in the new door openings, a new concrete slab on grade, horizontal sliding glass wall panels, privacy curtains, suspended acoustical ceilings, gypsum board ceilings, millwork, and finishes. Two existing care suites (2,285 square feet and 1,341 square feet) will be combined into one 3,626 square foot care suite, lockers will be relocated, and a new 449 square foot MRI magnet room with copper shielding will be constructed. Some existing concrete walls and fire-resistance-rated walls will be demolished so that the new equipment can be moved into place, after which infill fire-resistance-rated walls will be constructed. Headers constructed of steel angle members will be installed at the top of the new openings in concrete walls. Special Inspection is required for anchors post-installed in hardened concrete. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
