Turbid discharge flowing through DD3 in Ann Morrison Park reported by resident of Park View apartments...

Response:
Corrective actions had been taken at site prior to my arrival. I had called RP Jose to let him know a problem had been reported at 1:30 and arrived at site one hour later to inspect.

The hose carrying the pumped groundwater was unintentionally moved and was reportedly unnoticed by workers. The groundwater is very clear but the force of the discharge out of the pipe the hose flows was not being properly dissipated since the hose had moved and the creek bed was being churned up creating a turbid downstream flow.

RP Jose and foreman Nick temporarily diverted the discharge and configured an improved dissipation setup consisting of a blue pipe section filled with rip rap rocks set on top anchored had bays. Discharge water hit the rocks inside pipe (approx 1.5-2ft diameter) and swirls around loosing force and then trickles/flows through the hay bales and into creek. Creek flow looked visibly clear.

Requested that the outlet be checked frequently to make sure hose is discharging it the BMP setup.

Site is currently in process of installing underground culvert for the drainage behind the Anniversary Inn.

Observed hillside erosion/mud slide coming from the upper lots off Alto Via section from the lower section of Terra Nativa subdivision.

Inspection of the homesite found that the adajacent lot is a low point and runoff from the other adajacent lots and the homesite has collected there forming a large pond/puddle. It appears this water has infiltrated and then saturated the clay which has now caused a blowout 20-25 feet below the hill's edge.
The flow caused an erosion rill. Sediment discharged to the empty lot below.
Contacted PW hillside and drainage engineer to inspect. Recommended that berms be built in between each lot. Builder Matt Brown will try to divert flows and roughen the lot to create trenches and prevent concentration of water in one spot. I suggested that corrections wait until further guidance/information is gathered by PW.

Will reinspect and inform Terra Nativa developer of the situation.

Significant trackout onto Peirce from alley. Very muddy conditions but appears contractor did not attempt to stay off mud or clean up trackout.

Verbal CN to Syringa Homes RP Steve to clean up heavy mud with flat edge shovel and sweep sidewalks as much as possible.

Will check for improvement on Friday 1/16

WIP. Drainage from site is flowing into the new stormwater pond and then into the pasture for infiltration.

No trackout to Warm Springs, trackout Old Hickory needs to be swept 1-2 every two weeks. Overall site is in compliance currently.

Permits posted for 6 townhomes that are adjacent to each other. Current project in progress are using a lined washout and employees are parking on the road. Approved to begin since no sediment is leaving the overall subdivision and DIs have protection.

Corrections:
1. Clean up loose sediment and dirt/ mud clods as conditions allow.
2. Designate staging area for landscaping materials and other sub developement work.
3. Train contractors to prevent trackout as much as possible.
