Sprinkler piping is ok to cover. There are two vertical sections of pipe where the insulator "boxed in" an area to keep the pipe warm. This should work and the building owner and sprinkler contractor are aware of the implications if it should fail and that they are ultimately responcible for keeping the piping above 40 degrees.
