The issues with the project related fire alarm permit, for phase I, needs to be addressed. Egress issues may be present for the exterior doors that currently utilize door magnets. Tom (building superintendant), Jim Storey and I are going to meet and discuss the issue and possible solutions.

Todays inspection was to finish out phase I. The CRAC units were tested and functioned/shutdown correctly. The induct detectors are being used for hvac unit shutdown and fire/smoke damper operation. The induct detectors can not be used for hvac unit shutdown due to the air flow exceeding the listed range of the detector. The induct detectors can not be used for the damper operation because they do not meet the requirements of IMC 607.3.3.2. After a discussion it appears the VESDA system may provide a solution for both issues by meeting the "total area coverage" option of IMC section 606 and 607. Whatever the solution, it needs to be approved by Boise City Plan Review.

Todays inspection was for fire life safety for 3rd and 4th floors of Tower 1 and Tower 2. Items needing completed are smoke alarm testing for tower 2 for both the third and fourth floors due to covers still being in place on the smoke alarms. Also there are still protective tape on several sprinkler heads. A smoke alarm in one bedroom of room 302 did not activate the other smoke alarms.

Todays inspection was for the 3rd and 4th for Towers 1 and 2. The third floor fire/smoke damper smoke detector needs to be replaced and re-tested. Also rooms at the fire wall separation on both the third and fourth floors did not operate due to work being completed on the other side of the fire wall. These circuits need to be complete before a sign off for the third and fourth floor areas.

Rough-in, for pendant sprinklers, for the most part is ok. Almost all of the upright sprinklers are blocked by hanging insulation. Also Mike and I found one location where upright heads are overspaced from an existing wall and some of the existing upright heads are blocked by duct work. These two items will need to be addressed prior to an approval for cover being given.
