FIR09-00482 INSP-Sprinkler Rough-in9/29/20099/30/20099/30/2009 4:31:17 PMPPART
Today's inspection only covered the first floor piping. First floor piping can be covered except the piping in the central high area. This is because an additional branch line and upright sprinkler heads have been added in this area which is remote area #1 and may require modifications to the hydraulic calculations. Also, the upright sprinkler heads in this area shown on the plan were to be an 11.2 K factor. The upright heads installed are 5.6 K factor. See plans for a single wall location that is blocking upright sprinkler coverage. Access needs to be provided to the interior of the exterior canopies for verification of correct dry sidewall sprinkler head installation. The basement system has not been inspected due to time constraints.
FIR09-00462 INSP-Final Inspection9/28/20099/30/20099/30/2009 4:27:05 PMAFAIL
Hood suppression system operated correctly, but the drawings did not match the installation. Project will be finaled when asbuilt drawings are provided.
FIR09-00518 INSP-Sprinkler Rough-in/Hydro9/30/20099/30/20099/30/2009 4:25:12 PMPFAIL
The CC2 upright sprinkler heads exceed the maximum 12' distance apart as per their listing. One upright head needs to be relocated as discussed. The room marked as existing is actually new and the new sprinkler piping has been extended into this area. Per discussion with Tim Frost, a plan modification will need to be submitted showing any changes and the additional heads.
FIR09-00097 INSP-Final Inspection9/29/20099/30/20099/30/2009 3:12:17 PMAFAIL
The smoke duct detectors for hvac shutdown and the fire/smoke dampers passed inspection today. Also the hood suppression system interconnection passed inspection. The 14ga wire has been installed at the NAC panels as well.
FIR09-00448 INSP-Sprinkler Rough-in9/30/20099/30/20099/30/2009 1:52:57 PMPPART
The sprinkler piping in the north wing/half of the building can be covered since the tenting has been completed. The tenting in other areas of the building has not been completed.
FIR09-00468 INSP-Conference9/29/20099/30/20099/30/2009 1:51:41 PMADONE
I spoke to Mark about the job schedule. The project is not complete/tested due to two existing fire/smoke damper motors being non-functional. I stated my concerns with starting an inspection on a project that was not complete especially with my current work load. I also pointed out potential strobe problems in the "Evidence Storage" area and a possible audio only solution which will need to be followed up with the plan reviewer. I also noted that the detectors installed infront of the currently non-functional dampers will need to be installed with-in 12" as per NFPA 72. I let the electrician know that the existing fire alarm system will have to be removed, including wire, prior to the project final. We also discussed an earlier phone conversation with Mark and the plan reviewer that required the control modules for the elevator recall will need to be removed since the elevator controls are not going to be installed at this time. As-built plans will need to be provided.
