To place a new 576s.f. inground gunite swimming pool. All per the approved plan as marked and note from Boise City Public Works Department. SEparate electrical, and ESC permits are required. pep "1. The proposed pool is located at the most westerly corner of the subject property which is adjacent to the Watson Drain and the Ridenbaugh Canal. There is water in the Watson Drain all year. Watson Drain water levels generally increase when there is water in the canal which is the current condition. The permit holder should expect a high groundwater condition at the site. A method to remove groundwater from beneath the deeper sections of the pool will likely be required.
2. The soils in this area may present construction difficulties. Certain soils in this vicinity are composed of silt, fine sands or a mixture of fine sand and silt. When high groundwater is present with these soil conditions, excavation below the groundwater level can be exceptionally difficult. The excavation side walls will sluff off into the excavation as the hole is made deeper. It may be difficult to control the size of the excavation unless the site is adequately dewatered or excavation shoring is used. The permit holder should be aware that excavation limits cannot go beyond the site property boundaries.
3. Public Works recommends that the pool be installed with an automatic valve system that permits entry of ground water into the pool to balance hydrostatic uplift forces induced by high groundwater levels. If this type of system is not installed, the pool may "float" if it is drained. "
