This project is for the construction of a new 300s.f. patio cover at the rear of an existing single family dwelling. The new roof rafters will be 2X6 and supported by the exterior wall of the dwelling and the other end to be supported by a double 51/2 lvl supported by 4X4 posts at a maximum of 8'-0" between same. the posts will need a minimum of 8" diameter piers to frost depth (24") Lateral support will be done by shear nailing the roof decking that laps 24" beyond the ext wall of dwelling and shear nailed with all edges blocked.
