Footing below new post and beams installed to carry ceiling joists, was never called in for inspection. Verified contractor installed 16" x 16" x 8" pier block at point load. Design specialist to verify that block is adequate to carry load.

Met with Mike (owner)....Mike had concerns about a 16" x 16" x 8" pier block installed in crawlspace under new beam point load. Mike feels that it might be too small so I advised to have a design specialist or Struct Engineer calc out the load and install new footing per their specifications. Mike and I pulled a string line across ceiling (approx 18') in the area of the point load and it appeared to be sagging 1/4"

Framing OK.......but need to .Check for support of sagging roof above area where Contractor cut ceiling joists (rafter ties) to allow for beam.
9-8-08 Per Jim Sly gave me verbal information that Jim was not sure if the roof was sagging prior to work or not, possibly could have been that way prior to start of this job. Jim says the rafters in that portion of the roof are hand stacked and were possibly over spaned when originally built, but believes that the structural integrity is not compromised at this time except for the original over spanned rafters that may need blocking in the future. Ok to close this permit at framing rough in stage for Jock MacGregor.
