This project is for the use of straw bale construction to insulate the interior of an existing 800s.f. 1-story detached accessory structure and the conversion of it to a new recreation area and personal office. The straw bales are non structural and non load bearing with extended sill plate bolts used in place of the #4 reinforcing bar as the bales are being attached to exiting thickened slab construction. there will be a fire stop placed at each 10f-0" measured horizontally in the space between the new bale wall and the existing block wall. Window openings within 3'-0" of the north and west exterior walls must be in-filled per IRC R-302.1. R-2 ok per Colleen Carroll. (ADU) not allowed.
