To construct a 2-hr fire-resistance-rated exterior wall, with a minimum 30 inch high parapet, on the West side of an existing building. This work is to satisfy an upgrade agreement allowed under permit BLD13-00679 and dated May 9, 2013. The wall is required to have a 2-hr fire rating because it will be located less than 5 feet to the property line and the building has an M Occupancy. The wall will be constructed of reinforced and partially grouted 8 inch thick masonry block. It will be 47 feet long and 16 feet tall. Work is to include a concrete footing with rebar, epoxy anchors, a concrete foundation with rebar, 8 inch thick masonry block with rebar in grouted cells and bond beams, steel straps with anchor bolts to attach the new masonry wall to the roof diaphragm, full depth wood blocking between roof beams at strap locations, and a metal parapet cap. Special Inspection is required for soils, epoxy anchors, concrete, and masonry. This is a scope of work permit only. A certificate of occupancy was issued under permit BLD13-00679.
