(BOB MILLER RESIDENCE – 5TH STORY OF THE ROYAL PLAZA BUILDING – NORTHEAST CORNER - CONVERT DECK AREA TO A BEDROOM) (DRH15-00504) The fire sprinkler system is used to comply with high rise provisions. To expand a bedroom within an existing dwelling unit by 305 square feet into a former covered deck area. After the expansion, the bedroom will have a total floor area of about 554 square feet. The existing nonbearing wall located between the deck and the bedroom will be removed. Work is to include adding new glazing at the former patio openings to match the existing exterior glazing in the building. Work also includes new ceilings, an interior arched wall opening, and finishes. Fire-retardant-treated wood and plywood will be used as a floor sleeper system to raise the floor elevation of the former deck to match the existing floor elevation of the rest of the dwelling unit. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
