(ACCELERATOR REPLACEMENT AND VAULT REMODEL - ST. LUKE’S – MOUNTAIN STATES TUMOR INSTITUTE – MSTI – BASEMENT) The fire sprinkler system is used to allow floor levels over 55 feet above grade. To upgrade an existing accelerator located on the basement floor level (called ground floor on the plans). The existing accelerator vault will be remodeled to accommodate the new accelerator. All equipment shall be listed and labeled per the adopted Electrical Code with approval from the PDS Electrical Inspection Section. The area of remodel is about 1,567 square feet and includes the accelerator vault, the accelerator control room, and an HDR (high-dose-rate) treatment room. Interior demolition work includes removing a portion of the existing concrete floor slab, millwork, glass block windows, suspended ceiling tiles, nonbearing walls, and finishes. New work includes gypsum board infill walls installed in windows openings, lead shielding bricks, recessed concrete slab, suspended acoustical ceilings, gypsum board soffits and ceilings, millwork, and interior finishes. The remodeled area is used as a medical outpatient clinic. No one is allowed to be rendered incapable of self-preservation by the services provided. Special Inspection is required for concrete, welding, and post installed concrete anchors (epoxy and mechanical). The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13, including quick-response sprinkler heads, and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
