(PHYSICIAN’S SLEEPING ROOM – 2ND STORY – ST. LUKE’S HOSPITAL) The fire sprinkler system is used for high rise and for occupancy. To convert a portion of an existing work room to a 66 square foot physician’s sleeping room. This sleeping room is NOT required to be accessible to the disabled as an accessible sleeping unit because other sleeping rooms accessible to the disabled are available on the 2nd story. A section of a non-bearing masonry wall will be demolished and replaced with a new framed wall. Work is to include non-bearing fire-resistance-rated sleeping room separation walls (fire partitions), non-bearing fire-resistance-rated combination I-2 corridor wall (smoke partition) and sleeping room separation (fire partition), and a 20-minute door installed between the sleeping room and the existing I-2 corridor which is required to provide an effective barrier to limit the transfer of smoke. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
