LUKE’S – PEDIATRIC WAITING AREA, OCCUPIABLE ROOF DECK, PEDIATRIC PLAYROOM AND TEEN ROOM, SECURITY OFFICE, NEW WORK ROOM, AND TWO NEW PHYSICIAN SLEEPING UNITS – 4TH STORY) The fire sprinkler system is used for high rise and for occupancy. To remodel the pediatric waiting area, the occupiable roof deck next to the pediatric waiting area, the interior pediatric playroom and teen room, the security office, and to create a new work room and two new physician sleeping units (1,763 square feet total remodel area). Work related to the 98 square foot security office includes new floor carpet, new wall paint, new counters and cabinets, a new service counter opening in an I-2 rated corridor with a coiling smoke door, and suspended ceiling patches. Work related to the new 450 square foot work area (261 square feet) and physician sleeping units (112 square feet and 61 square feet) includes new and upgraded 1-hr fire partitions to function as sleeping unit separations, suspended acoustical ceilings, wall infills, new floor carpet, new floor vinyl, new wall paint, new doors having a fire-protection-rating of 45 minutes, counters, and cabinets. One sleeping room is required to be accessible to the disabled and will have access to an existing accessible toilet/shower room. The 1,309 square foot exterior roof deck located next to the pediatric waiting area will be reduced to an approved occupiable floor area of about 345 square feet. Work related to the 381 square foot pediatric waiting area and the 345 square foot occupiable roof deck area includes fences and gates to limit the occupiable area of the exterior roof deck, a gypsum board soffit, new floor carpet, new floor vinyl, new wall paint, counters, and cabinets. The existing toilet room will be upgraded to be accessible to the disabled and a “high” and a “low” drinking fountain will be installed. The pediatric waiting area will be included within the enclosure of the I-2 rated corridor. Work related to the 489 square foot interior playground (398 square feet) and teen room (87 square feet) includes an interior nonbearing wall with an interior door, an interior nonbearing wall with an interior door and interior storefront windows, suspended gypsum board ceiling infill, new floor carpet, new floor vinyl, new wall paint, counters, cabinets, and window sills. The interior playground was formerly included within the enclosure of the I-2 rated corridor and will remain within the enclosure of the I-2 rated corridor. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 (including quick-response fire sprinkler heads installed within remodeled areas) and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
