Description
(BOISE MOBILE EQUIPMENT (BME) – STORAGE ROOMS, 2ND STORY OFFICE, AND PAINT BOOTH) The fire sprinkler system is used for building area increase and for fire area. To construct a new 12 foot wide opening at grade level in the existing North exterior wall of an existing building (48,000 square feet 1st story and about 5,200 square feet 2nd story) to accommodate a new 12’ x 12’ overhead door. Work includes steel columns, steel beams, a steel box beam, and a new overhead door having a minimum R-4.75 insulation value. To construct two adjacent rooms on the grade level (597 square feet and 105 square feet) with ceilings above the new rooms. Work is to include steel columns, steel wide flange beams, 6” ceiling joists at 16” on center, 5/8 inch “Type X” gypsum board installed as a ceiling, hat channels and gypsum board installed on the inside of the existing exterior walls, steel stud and gypsum board bearing and non-bearing walls, and new interior doors. The ceiling will be about 15 feet 5 inches above the floor for the larger room and about 8 feet above the floor for the smaller room. The larger room will be served by the new overhead door and will be used for storage. The smaller room will be used for paint mixing and storage. The area above the new room is not approved for occupancy since the live load capacity is only 20 pounds per square foot. A floor deck is not allowed to be installed above the ceiling joists. An existing stairway located next to the larger new storage room serves an existing mezzanine. The stairway will be maintained with new handrails added on each side and a guard provided to prevent falls onto the new ceiling. Special Inspection is required for welding and for anchors post-installed in hardened masonry and/or concrete. To convert a second story storage room to a 768 square foot open office. Work is to include three 2’ tall by 4’ wide exterior windows, steel stud and gypsum board furred walls, a suspended acoustical ceiling, a new steel stud and gypsum board guard, a new door with glass sidelight, carpet, and finishes. To install a prefabricated 704 square foot spray booth (based on interior dimensions) with a 16 foot tall ceiling on the 1st story. The spray booth is required to comply with its listing and with the 2015 International Fire Code. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**

Life safety passed for the Paint Booth portion of work. I let Chad know that one additional fire extinguisher, at the booth, is required and the fire extinguishers sitting on the floor in the office area need to be hung back up.
