ST LUKES-WEST WING-3RD FLOOR, NORTH END - PHASE 'A' - To install a new fire alarm system in an exiting building as part of a remodel project. The new system will include manual pulls at all exits, area smoke detection in all occupied spaces except restrooms, duct detectors for HVAC air handler shutdown, in-duct detectors for 4 smoke dampers (corridor area smoke detectors will be used for smoke dampers penetrations in the corridor walls and ceiling), sprinkler flow and valve tamper for this floor, and a/v annunciation per 1999 approved design of strobes in accordance with UFC 1007.3.3.3.4. and audible alarm by approved 30-sec chime tone followed by generic PA announcement. The Building permit (BLD01-00228) is to add new interior construction and finish to the north end area of the third floor, West Wing, demolished under BLD00-00081. Work to include installation of interior non-bearing, non-combustible walls; one hour fire-resistive sheetrock on framing; wall, floor & ceiling finishes; electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler & alarm system upgrades for code compliance and to meet needs of occupants. New finished area to be used as office's / treatment / procedure / out-patient exam / & reception - waiting rooms and provide two accessible compliant restrooms. This new area will be a stand alone suite with it's own exits. The existing 1-hour corridor system located at the south end of this remodel area SHALL be maintained at all times for exit purposes. An existing 2-hour shaft is being expanded to create new 2-hour mechanical shaft, to provide mechanical service to the West Wing from the mechanical room, ground floor, remodeled under BLD00-03449. The Structural Strengthening of the exterior walls, BLD00-02394, SHALL be completed and approved in the area of remodel before any new construction is begun. NOTE: This building is fully sprinklered.
