HOBSON FABRICATING - To modify the existing building fire alarm system by adding duct smoke detectors for HVAC air handler shutdown in the new addition, monitoring of a new fire sprinkler valve tamper switch on the new spray booth, and a new NAC power extender panel to power new audible alarm devices (horns) in the new addition, and to rewire existing 1st and 2nd floor a/v circuits, which are presently powered from the existing FAC panel, to the new NAC panel.
The associated building permit (BLD 02-00166) is to remodel a 3750 portion of an existing fabrication building for installation of four separate application booths, one booth will be used for sandblasting, one for primer coating, one for powder coating and one drying oven. This portion of building was previously constructed with the original building as an open sided canopy under permit bld97-00447. Under this permit the walls will be in filled between supporting columns to create an enclosed room. Work will include construction of a one-hour fire-rated exterior wall 46'8" long that is within 20 ft of the property line the remaining wall will be constructed with non-rated noncombustible construction, two exit doors will be installed, fire sprinkler system will be extended per NFPA #13, mechanical exhaust system shall be installed per UMC & UFC, fabrication booths shall be installed per the requirements of the UFC. This building is currently fully fire sprinklered for area increase; all modifications to the system shall be per NFPA #13 as regulated by the fire department.
