2/4/2004: Chris Willis at Simplex, was unaware of the Type I hood to be installed in the kitchen and the second floor remodel. (The plans for the 2nd floor were not included in the submittal). The plans were put on hold waiting resolution.
3/23/2004 - Revised scope, to extend the notification circuits into the 2nd floor remodel space and the kitchen area. A Type I hood is being monitored by the existing required sprinkler monitoring fire alarm system that includes HVAC shutdown, elevator recall/shutdown and voluntary notification throughout the building.
The associated building permit (BLD 03-02994) is to remodel to a 6,200 sq. ft. area on the first floor and to a 1,120 sq. ft. area on the second floor to an existing office building per approved plans on file. Remodel on the first floor will be a series of residential type test/demonstration kitchens for grocery store food products with some work rooms and storage. One kitchen will be set up as a commercial kitchen with Type I hood and approved duct wrap system for the grease duct. The second floor remodel will be for some new small office/meeting rooms. Work to include some interior demolition work, some new 20 minute rated doors in existing one-hour rated exit corridor, new one-hour rated wall infill in former door opening in existing one-hour rated corridor, new interior walls, new interior doors, interior finish, suspended ceiling work, new counters/cabinets, new sinks, fire sprinkler work, fire alarm work, mechanical work, plumbing work, and electrical work. This is a Scope of Work Permit. Letter of Completion to be issued when done. NOTE: This building is fully fire sprinklered and has 60' minimum yards on all sides for unlimited area.
