Description |
To demo existing initiating devices and notification appliances on the first floor prior to the building section being demolished. The communication cables for the fire alarm systems utilized to communicate to each other will be located in the bridge portion of the building that will remain intact during the construction process. Two additional exits have been defined and notification appliances and initiating devices are being installed to the existing required manual fire alarm system that includes automatic detection, sprinkler monitoring, fire/smoke damper control, door release, HVAC shutdown, elevator recall/shutdown and notification throughout.
6/21/2004 - Alternate exit added from the elevators to the north in the North tower. Fire alarm inputs include two new manual pull stations and FA controls will disconnect power from two glass electric slider doors in case of alarm. Six (6) in-duct smoke detectors are being added to control six (6) fire/smoke dampers in the South Tower for Area E&F as well as a manual pull station at the north exit of the corridor.
9/29/2004 - Received revised plan modification to the permit. Address corrections on initiating devices and notification appliances are shown as clouded on the print. First floor Area E & F, three (3) smoke detectors exist in corridor 12480 for the three (3) existing corridor doors on hold-opens, the affected area is a 2 hour rated exit and will not require smoke detectors in the space. The PDS Fire Inspector shall field verify door release on the smoke detectors.
The associated building permit (BLD 04-00448) is to New work includes construction of 2-hour exit passageway to maintain exit system past new construction at two locations; then, demolition of the existing north side entrance canopy / lobby, McCleary conference center, and 3rd level of the bridge-link; to remodel the 2nd level of the bridge-link for vital utilities, sprinkler / alarm systems and access between north & south towers (all other uses of the bridge-link are eliminated); to provide new structural, fire-resistive, steal / concrete columns, extended below the proposed future basement excavation depths and FR steal beams to support the remaining link on the new columns; to remove the existing beams & columns under link, all per approved plans, notes thereon by reviewing agencies and all reviewing agency attached plan review comments and conditions as part of the approved plans.
