To provide notification appliances on the remodeled floor for the tenant improvement (17th floor) with proper coverage. The existing required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, HVAC shutdown, door release, elevator recall/shutdown and notification (visual and speaker) throughout.

The associated building permit (BLD 03-02949) is to remodel the 17th story of an existing high-rise building for an office tenant. The area of the entire 17th story is about 14,520 square feet. This tenant space has a floor area of about 11,857 square feet. The core (restrooms, elevators, stairways, corridor, etc.) has an area of about 2,663 square feet. This tenant will occupy the entire floor. Work is to include interior nonbearing walls, interior doors, interior windows, suspended ceilings, and interior finishes all per the approved drawings and the plan review report on file. The fire sprinkler system, fire alarm system, and high-rise life safety systems (and the infrastructure supporting these systems) for the 17th floor are regulated under the provisions of the 2000 IBC.
