Description |
To provide the capability of activating the exhaust fan for the elevator shaft upon initiation of any elevator lobby smoke detector. Two additional fire/smoke dampers are being added to the 3rd floor exit corridor on the north end of the building.
The associated building permit (BLD 00-01151) is to perform upgrades to the common areas on the 3rd and 4th floors of an existing office building. Work is to include upgrading the existing core restrooms to be more accessible to the disabled, upgrading the existing "corridors" (4th floor) and "passageways" (3rd floor) to meet the 1994 UCBC and the conditions of a code upgrade agreement signed by the Building Official, installing a handrail on one side of the North stairway from the 3rd floor to the basement, and constructing a new corridor wall with protected openings on the 4th floor all per approved drawings and plan review conditions on file. The location of fire sprinkler heads shall comply with NFPA 13-1996 as regulated by the Fire Department. This permit DOES NOT establish a CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY for any tenant. The associated building permit (BLD 04-00924) is to vent the existing elevator shaft located within an existing historic high rise building. Work is to include a horizontal 2-hr fire-resistive-rated shaft, a horizontal metal duct, and a blower unit. The blower unit will be supplied with emergency power from the existing emergency generator and will be activated by the fire alarm system and a smoke detector located in the elevator shaft.
