Description
The scope of this permit is to extend the fire alarm system into a remodeled space on the 6th floor. The existing required manual fire alarm system includes sprinkler monitoring, required automatic detection, HVAC shutdown, fire/smoke damper control, door release, elevator recall/shutdown and notification throughout. (high rise building, voice evac is required.)

The fire alarm panel was replaced in 2001. The upgrade agreement began in 2002 and includes the addition of additional smoke detectors on each floor's common area corridor and installation of A/V fire strobes in each restroom and common area corridors. FIR04-00055 includes floors 1-4 and was issued 2/26/04. Per the upgrade agreement, the 5th and 6th floors are to be completed in 2004. At this time, there are no permit applications to upgrade the 5th and 6th floor core areas.

The associated building permit (BLD 04-00310) is to remodel an existing space on the north end of the sixth floor in an existing high-rise building per approved plans on file. Remodel will split the space into two areas. New office tenant will occupy 3,169 sq. ft. of area under this permit. Adjacent remaining 1,589 sq. ft. will remain vacant and will require a separate permit for any tenant to occupy the space. Work to include miscellaneous interior demolition work, new one-hour rated fire barrier wall portion that is common between the new tenant area and the existing one-hour rated elevator lobby, new 45 minute rated door, new 45 minute rated wired glass sidelight, new interior walls, new interior doors and windows, interior finish, new suspended ceiling, new soffit work, new counters/cabinets, providing an accessible toilet stall in each core restroom on the 6th floor, fire sprinkler and alarm work, mechanical work, plumbing work, and electrical work. Alternate Approval attached to plans concerning common path of egress travel being exceeded and allowing only one exit. New quick response fire sprinkler heads will be provided in the space and in the elevator lobby. Fire alarm will also be upgraded to current code requirements which this tenant will be connected. Tenant will also be provided with exit signs and emergency lighting. A Certificate of Occupancy is to be issued when completed and approved.
