Description |
To provide total area smoke detector coverage, notification and door release in the temporary bridge space located on the 2nd floor by extending the exiting fire alarm system from the North Tower which include chimes in-lieu of voice evac. The area will be upgraded to IFC 2003 under the shell and core fire alarm permit for the Central Tower. Per e-mail from Ronnie Zahm (Simplex-Grinnell, included in the packet), dated 6/28, the existing "backbone" for the network connection between the South and North towers that currently resides in the exiting link will NOT be relocated under this permit.
7/29/2005 - Three in-duct smoke detectors are being installed to control fire/smoke dampers, two of which are located in the east wall of the corridor at the north tower entrance and the third at the west wall on the south tower entrance. Additional door hold-opens and smoke detectors have been added on the south doors that separate the existing towers from the temporary walkway. The plans indicate two sets of doors with door release (hold-opens and smokes), apparently the doors have not and will not be installed until a future date. A permit will be required when the doors are installed to verify proper functionality.
The associated building permit (BLD 04-02988) is to construct approximately 105 feet of non-combustible, smoke partition walls & doors as an access corridor between the existing South & North Towers of SARMC. Doors shall have a positive latching hardware and be capable of resisting smoke transfer between the corridor and adjoining areas. To transfer all existing life-safety features for sprinkler suppression, alarm, communication, medical gas services, etc. from the existing pedestrian walkway link between the towers to be within this new corridor access between towers, constructed in accordance with Secs. 407.3 & 710, 2003 IBC for an "I2" occupancy. After the new work is completed the existing link & support structure will be demolished to allow the continued construction of the central tower to proceed. drs ST ALPHONSUS CENTRAL TOWER)(2ND LEVEL CORRIDOR) A "Letter of Compliance" is required for approval for the use of this area.
