To install within the TI area, manual pull stations at each exit, supplementary (non-required) smoke detection coverage in selected areas, and full a/v annunciation (new NAC panel), all connected to the existing building fire alarm panel, which also provides offsite monitoring of the fire sprinkler system. This tenant area is separated from the remainder of the building with a blank wall and shares no common or public spaces with the remainder of the building; therefore installing a/v annunciation within only this portion of the building is acceptable. The existing fire alarm system was installed at the building shell stage under FIR01-00425.

The first review required resubmittal based upon the type of audible appliances being shown, per FIR02-00449, comment #1 "To meet the requirements of 1-5.4.7, (NFPA 72; 1999) the fire alarm signal used to notify building occupants of the need to evacuate (leave the building) shall be in accordance with ANSI S3.41, Audible Emergency Evacuation Signal. The use of the distinctive three-pulse temporal pattern fire alarm evacuation signal required by 3-8.4.1.2.2 became effective July 1, 1996, for new systems installed after that date. The standard fire alarm evacuation signal is a three-pulse temporal pattern using any appropriate sound." (Refer to NFPA 72, 3-8.4.1.2. and Appendix material).

The associated building permit (BLD05-02356) is to construct a new 4,559 sq. ft. medical office tenant space in an existing vacant shell area in a 34,000 sq. ft. building per approved plans. Work to include new interior walls, some new interior doors and windows, interior finish, new suspended ceiling, new sinks and casework, fire sprinkler and alarm work, new mechanical work including two new rooftop HVAC units, new plumbing, and new electrical work.
