This fire alarm permit is to remodel portions of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the Boise High School. A new main entry stairway enclosure is shown to be created with relocated and added fire alarm devices in the stair enclosure. Door hold opens are shown to be released by added smoke detectors. The second and 3rd floor work is to convert storage area into classrooms and installation of new doors across a non rated corridor. Door hold opens are shown to be released by added smoke detectors. Building permit BLD07-00917 is to create a 500 sq. ft. area on the floor for a stair enclosure area to include the main entry and install new fire-rated exit doors from first floor through stair enclosure; modify 6,900 sq. ft. portion of the second floor changing storage areas into classroom usage and installing new doors across the non-rated corridor between the west & east wings and install doors to separate the auditorium exiting from the main corridor; to remodel a 4,975 sq.ft. area on the 3rd floor changing use from storage to classrooms and a floor opening for the new exit stair enclosure; to perform seismic upgrade at first, second & third floors and at the roof structure, tying the structural framing to the exterior walls; infill third floor at removed old stair between second and third floors; install new handrails at exterior stairs from second floor to grade, per approved plans. Work includes select interior demolition of portion of second and third floors in the southwest corner to allow construction of a new 1-hour enclosed stairway (does not connect to the basement). To install structural support for the new stairway enclosure walls and landings; cut a new opening in a masonry wall on the first floor as part of the 1-hour enclosure that will include the existing main floor exit leading directly to the exterior; install 60 minute fire-rated, labeled, self-closing, doors at stair enclosure entries; to upgrade the floor/ceiling area directly below the 1-hour enclosure and all support structure that will carry the new enclosure to be 1-hour floor/ceiling, beam and column systems. Individually wrap the new W12x72 steel beam and 5x5x1/4 beam support column at the west end of new beam in the basement with listed 1-hour fire-rated assemblies. To brace the parapets to the roof per plans. Upgrade electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler and alarm systems to meet tenant needs and comply with current adopted codes and ordinances. drs
