Description
This fire alarm permit is to upgrade the existing alarm system within the TI area. Work includes new a/v notification appliances throughout the TI area, smoke detection throughout the corridors, for area protection and magnetic door hold-open releases, as well as in selected rooms, new manual pull stations at two exits, and adding two new NAC panels and IDNET module to the FAC Panel. NOTE: Alarm modifications are designed for an I-2 occupancy. This permit is attached to BLD08-00102 to :SARMC Staff Training Area) To change the occupancy use of a 8,875 sq. ft. portion of the previous 21,000 sq. ft. operating rooms / support areas to be used as staff training facilities. This area is located on the first floor of the South Tower of St. Al's. The building is fully sprinklered and has an alarm system. Computer work stations will be installed in 13 existing rooms, with 14 stations in each of rooms #1 thru #10; 11 stations in room designated P2; 16 stations in room #11; and 18 practice stations for staff use outside of the normal classroom training, a total of 185 work training stations. Each class room has access to two exits, one exit access door directly into an existing exit corridor and one through intervening rooms. The main corridors have one exit directly to the exterior at the south end and a a set of exit doors into an existing rated corrridor serving as a primary exit of the south tower first floor. Exit signage and emergency egress illumination are existing and are to be maintained. All door hardware from the training rooms & conference room areas and along the path of egress travel serving these rooms, are required to comply with Section 1008.1.8, 2006 IBC, having door hardware "...readily openable from the egress side without use of a key or special knowledge or effort. Scope of work includes upgrade to alarm system to meet current code. Separate application, plans, approval & permit is required before any work pertaining to the alarm system can begin. The existing sprinkler and alarm system are to remain fully functional at all times. drs
