Description
The Fire Sprinkler Scope of work consists of adding fire protection to a new 684 Sqft freezer and 1491 Sqft cooler. The storage commodity in the freezer is a variety of frozen meats, breads and deserts. The commodity classification is Class I-III depending upon the packaging. The storage commodity in the produce cooler is a variety of vegetables. The commodity classification is Class I. However, since most of the produce will be packed in multi layered corrugated cartons the commodity should be consider Class II. All products will be stored on equivalent wood pallets and are nonencapsulated. The aisle width for the freezer is 4' and the aisle width for the produce cooler is 8'.

The designer has chosen the following design criteria for the freezer, based on a Class III commodity, .34/2000 with a maximum of 16.5' high storage and intermediate temperature K=8.0 sprinklers. The cooler is based on a Class II commodity, .34/2000 with a maximum of 19' high storage and intermediate temperature K=8.0 sprinklers.

Note: Although the freezer and produce cooler are 21.5' high, the top of storage height cannot exceed 16.5' and 19' respectively.



Building Department Scope:

(COSTCO - Walk-in Cooler Addition / Remodel) Permit is to remodel an existing (1,497square foot) walk-in cooler and add two additional (1,491 square foot produce cooler and 684 square foot bakery freezer) walk-in coolers in an existing 160,471 square foot retail building. Approval contingent upon adhering to the approved plans on file and attached engineering. Work to include: installation of a prefabricated walk-in cooler including engineered interior bearing, installation of new mechanical units, and installation of plumbing. This building is fully fire sprinklered for unlimited area building provisions any alterations or modifications to the sprinkler system WILL REQUIRE A SEPARATE PERMIT and shall be installed per NFPA #13 as regulated by the fire department. Racking that exceeds 8 ft. in height requires a separate Building Permit be submitted and approved before installation. **TLW**
