Description |
This fire alarm permit is to remove fire alarm devices throughout corridors and common areas during construction and then placing them back in their original positions once construction is complete. In addition, a smoke detector is going to be replaced with a heat detector, and a weatherproof notification device is being placed in a new shower room.
Associated building permit: BLD10-01877 (INTERMOUNTAIN HOSPITAL - MAIN BUILDING - BUILDING #1 - SOUTH CORRIDOR - NURSE STATION REMODEL) This building is fire sprinklered for building area increase and for the I Occupancy. To remodel 2 nurse stations and the adjacent corridors within an existing I-3 mental hospital (maintaining UBC occupancy classification). One nurse station is within the 1-hr corridor enclosure. The other nurse station will be separated from the adjacent 1-hr corridor enclosure. Work is to include relocating an existing overhead coiling fire door, installing windows having a 45 minute fire-protection-rating, and constructing 1-hr corridor walls and tunneled ceilings. Work also includes millwork and service windows with safety glazing having transaction slots. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. The fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**
NOTE TO INSPECTOR: The devices that are being removed for construction only (i.e. not being replaced, added, or relocated) are allowed to be placed back in their original locations rather than meet current code requirements.
