Inspection turned into a conference. Tom and I walked the project and discussed the obstructions to the pendant sprinkler heads. Some heads have been relocated but other are still blocked by the light fixtures. There is also an issue with esch. on some of the dry sidewalls due to the rock facing not allowing the installation of the canopies.

Todays inspection was for a building walk through. I found pendant heads blocked by lights in the third floor library. Pendant head bent in room 317. Pendants covered in rooms 328 and 316 and in the corridor closet outside of room 314. Three pendant heads are also covered in the area "A" south third floor corridor. The sidewall heads in the fourth floor exterior common balcony are located with the deflectors at 2 1/2" to 3" below the ceiling. Need verification they are listed for this. The first and second floors east of the fire wall has not been inspected yet since the light fixtures have not been installed yet. I did note that some of the corridor pendants in the two room apartments are located close to electrical boxes so if lights are installed obstruction may be present. Also washer and dryers are being installed in many of the closets in the residence rooms. The sprinkler pendants in these rooms are 155 degree which may not be high enough temperature. Tom, the project fitter, and I discussed it and he was going to talk to his office.

Todays inspection I walked through areas A and B, all of the second floor and the west half of the first floor. I found many rooms where the sprinkler heads are covered due to touch up work by painters. I gave a list of room numbers with the covered heads to the job superintendant.

Todays inspection was for the riser room tamper and flow switches as well as the tamper and flow switches for the west stair well floor control assemblies. The standpipe tamper switches were tested as well except for the east tamper which has not been connected to the fire alarm sytem yet. Forward flush passed. Flow switch delay was adjusted while I waited for most flow switches. A sticker is needed for the outside alarm bell.

See the city approved plans for additional areas where the sprinkler piping can be covered. Per fire sprinkler plan reviewer (Tim Frost) the sprinkler heads in the garbage chute at the fourth and second floors are OK. I noted over spaced heads in the first floor electrical room and a missing 4" control valve in the east side standpipe.
