Description
This quick permit is to provide notification, smoke detection, pull stations, and overvoltage protection (for wiring exiting/entering the portables instead of burying the wiring in metalic conduit) for a new portable. Devices are to be tied in to the existing fire alarm system. There are no written review comments. Approval is subject to field measurement of the EOL voltage drop. For appliances with an operating voltage range of 16V – 33V, the minimum acceptable voltage is 19.6V with the AC power off. Any measurement below this voltage will be considered insufficient to run the NACs at the end of useful battery life of 20.4V (per UL 864, Standard for Control Units for Fire Signaling Systems). See NFPA 72 2010 Handbook 18.3.2.3 for further assistance with calculations. The installing contractor shall have available at final inspection a voltage meter and measure end of line voltages; witnessed by the field inspector. Associated building permit: BLD11-00824
