(OWYHEE PLACE - APARTMENTS, MEETING ROOM CORE, AND OFFICE CORE) (10-25-13 PLAN MODIFICATION TO DELETE A PREVIOUSLY PROPOSED ROOF POP-UP AT THE 7TH STORY, INSTALL ADDITIONAL WINDOWS IN THE SOUTH EXTERIOR WALL OF THE 7TH STORY, RAISE THE CEILING OF THE 7TH STORY TO CREATE MORE ROOM VOLUME, TO REPLACE EXISTING HISTORIC EXTERIOR WINDOWS IN THE SOUTH AND WEST EXTERIOR WALLS OF THIS BUILDING WITH NEW WINDOWS, AND TO MODIFY THE DESIGN OF THE WALKWAY ACROSS THE ROOF GIVING ACCESS TO THE 2ND EXIT FROM THE 7TH STORY.) Fire sprinkler system used for area, story, and height increase. To renovate an existing 7 story building. Interior non-structural demolition work was done under permit BLD13-01010. On August 23, a plan modification was done to the demolition permit to include the removal of exterior nonstructural veneer brick on the Main Street and 11th Street sides of the historic portion of this building at the 1st story and to include the removal of the fire escape from the South exterior wall of the historic portion of this building. Early start permit BLD13-01955 was also issued. A portion of this building is historic and other portions are NOT historic. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stories of the non-historic former West hotel wing will be converted to 36 rental apartments (total occupant load of 130). This permit is intended to establish a Certificate of Occupancy for the new apartments. Alterations to the West apartment wing are regulated by the energy code. This permit does not establish a Certificate of Occupancy for any other portion of the building. Core work will also be done under this permit within the 7 story historic portion of this building. Alterations to the historic portion of this building are not regulated by the energy code. Certificate of Occupancies will be established for tenants located within the historic portion of this building, including the 7th story terrace, under future separate tenant improvement permits. Within the historic portion, new restrooms will be provided on the 1st story and on the 2nd story. Assembly rooms on the 2nd story will be expanded or combined. Egress will be upgraded on all stories. Trellis structures at grade will be constructed. New storefront windows will be installed at grade. Several other windows will also be replaced. Core areas on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th stories will be remodeled with new restrooms created. A new mechanical shaft will be constructed. The vault below the Main Street sidewalk will be abandoned. The sidewalk will be demolished, a retaining wall will be constructed below and parallel with the North exterior building wall, and the vault will be backfilled with structural fill. Special Inspection is required for concrete, masonry, welding, and epoxy anchors. This building will be connected to the downtown geothermal system. The fire sprinkler system shall comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system shall comply with NFPA 72 as new systems and as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**
