THEY ADDED A NEW STORAHE ROOM AND SOILDED LINEN HOLD ROOM
(ST. ALPHONSUS EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT RENOVATION AND EXPANSION) (1-9-14 PLAN MODIFICATION TO CONSTRUCT A TEMPORARY 242 SQUARE FOOT STORAGE ROOM AND A TEMPORARY 94 SQUARE FOOT SOILED HOLDING ROOM. THE SOILED HOLDING ROOM WILL HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO AN EXISTING EXIT PASSAGEWAY THAT FUNCTIONS AS THE EXTENSION OF A STAIRWAY ENCLOSURE. THE 90 MINUTE DOOR IS REQUIRED TO BE AUTOMATIC CLOSING BY THE ACTUATION OF SMOKE DETECTORS. THE DOOR TO THE EXIT PASSAGEWAY WILL BE REMOVED AND THE EXIT PASSAGEWAY WALL RESTORED TO ITS FORMER CONDITION WITHIN 60 DAYS AFTER COMPLETION OF THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT RENOVATION AND EXPANSION. THE STORAGE ROOM AND THE SOILED HOLDING ROOM WILL THEN BE COMBINED TO BECOME A 336 SQUARE FOOT STORAGE ROOM WITHOUT DIRECT ACCESS TO THE EXIT PASSAGEWAY.) The fire sprinkler system is required for occupancy and high-rise. To enlarge the existing Emergency Department at St. Alphonsus Hospital by constructing a 652 square foot building addition, a 106 square foot building addition, a 522 square foot building addition, and by expanding into adjacent 3,336 square foot areas within the existing building or below the roof of the existing building. After the expansions, the Emergency Department will have a total floor area of about 19,986 square feet. In conjunction with the expansion, the entire Emergency Department will also be renovated. The renovation includes exam rooms, staff lounges, staff work areas, and a public waiting area. Two ER staff toilet/shower rooms, two ER Physicians toilet rooms, one ER Physician shower room, one ER toilet/shower room, five ER patient toilet rooms, and two ER public waiting area toilet rooms all accessible to the disabled will be provided. Work includes interior nonbearing walls, interior sliding doors, curtains, suspended acoustical ceilings, bullet-resistant fiberglass panels, millwork, equipment, finishes, smoke barrier walls and doors, smoke partitions and doors, exterior walls, exterior windows, and exterior screens for roof top mechanical equipment. Structural work includes concrete footings, concrete foundations, concrete slabs on grade, steel columns, steel beams, steel moment frames, metal pan deck, steel headers and jambs at new openings in concrete and masonry walls, etc. Special Inspection is required for steel, steel fabrication, bolting, welding, concrete, soils, epoxy anchors, Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems, and spray applied fire-proofing. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, with the structural design, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. The fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Analysis of the medical gas system is required before issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy. **CJW**
