The fire sprinkler scope of work consists of protecting a three level historic building. Each level will have floor control valves. The basement and bar/restaurant. The top level is residential and office use (light hazard). A yard PIV and backflow preventer and remote FDC will be provided. The piping for the canopy will be heat traced.

** FIELD INSPECTOR **
The fire protection system has never been approved. Therefore, the review, testing and inspection shall encompass the entire fire protection system.

Contractor’s Note: The building permit has not been issued at this time. The building department may determine that changes are required to the building plans in order to meet code. The changes may affect the sprinkler system. The sprinkler contractor will be obligated to make all necessary changes that may be required. Therefore, if the sprinkler contractor chooses to proceed without an issued building permit, they will do so on their own cognizance. This note does not constitute an early start agreement.

Contractor/Tenant is looking for a partial final for exterior of building in regards to the fire sprinkler system, wire conduit connections going to PIV tamper switch are not weather proof fittings, contractor installed flex conduit to hard pipe and used electrical tape for connection, not a weather tight fitting. Fire sprinkler systems are isolated at backlow, no active fire sprinkler systems at time of inspection. Backflow needs a current backlow inspection/tag for fire system. Wet system fire sprinkler pipng on the west side of building, patio area has heat tape installed and monitored but no piping insulation is installed, need to have insulation installed before sprinkler system is put into service/covered. Escutcheon's missing on first floor dry fire sprinkler heads, escutcheon's need to installed before next partial final inspection.

Hydrostatic pressure test complete all three risers/systems. Basement system failed first attempt. Leaking vic in main area was adjusted/tightened on the spot. Basement system was pumped back up for a second test and passed.

Initial walkthrough completed- items noted include; overspaced coverage at one location in the basement, DSW not yet installed at the basement, PIV and FDC must remain accessible, heat trace and insulation fill at the combustible concealed space grade level not yet complete, provide an intermediate temp head below the second floor skylight.

The sprinkler in the opening on the porch is incorrect it is a QR pendent. The sprinkler is supposed to be a horizontal sidewall spraying DOWN to create a water curtian affect.
