The fire sprinkler scope of work consists of a NFPA 13R system for a three level apartment building. The system is supplied by 2” underground through a 2” backflow preventer to 1 ½” riser. There are floor level control valves in a valve house. The system piping is CPVC with extended coverage residential sprinklers.

[BLD15-01116] - The drawings for site work (civil, landscaping, lawn sprinklers, site electrical, site plumbing, etc.) are filed under BLD15-01107 in ePlanReview. The NFPA 13R fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy and for story increase. To construct a 29,932 square foot three story apartment building (10,389 sq. ft. 1st story with eight 2.a units, 10,389 sq. ft. 2nd story with eight 2.a units, and 9,154 sq. ft. 3rd story with four 2.a units and four 1.b units). All ground floor units are required to comply as Type B dwelling units. No elevator is provided in this building. Work is to include concrete footings, concrete foundations, concrete slabs on grade, wood stud bearing walls, wood stud shear walls, fiberglass shingles, fiber-cement board siding, manufactured stone veneer, 1-hr dwelling unit separations, .5-hr minimum fire-resistance-rated corridors with 20-minute smoke- and draft-control doors, exterior exit stairways fire rated like the corridor, steel stairways with concrete treads, interior nonbearing walls, millwork, and finishes. Special Inspection is required for soils and for concrete. The roof truss design is a deferred submittal item. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13R and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**

Tenting inspection performed for overhead fire sprinkler piping located in attic spaces done, piping cannot be covered, numerous area's throughout level 3 has insulation going over the top of plumbing vent lines, pocket between sheetrock and piping will not be formed due to the spacing. Level 3 west apartments has miising insulation over the top of the piping in the living rooms, piping cannot be covered at this time.

Hydrostatic test complete for entire overhead fire sprinkler piping in building. Rough to cover inspection complete for overhead fire sprinkler piping. Level 1 overhead fire sprinkler piping approved for cover, level 2 overhead fire sprinkler piping located between levels approved for cover, overhead fire sprinkler piping located on level 2 that is in attic space cannot be covered until tenting inspection is performed. Level 3 overhead fire sprinkler piping cannot be covered until tenting inspection is complete. Will need to verify that an approved method has been accepted and installed to keep the pipe crossing the breezeway's from freezing, this will be verified at a later date.
