This is the underground for a five level building consisting of a podium and 4 level, 147,970 SQ FT student housing unit. The fire protection scope of work is for all piping, fittings, thrust block, digging, bedding, backfilling, and flushing. The work will start at a gate valve and use 8" x 110’ ± C900 to pipe water into the fire riser room. There is a 12" circulating main around the building.

[BLD17-00091] - The NFPA 13 fire sprinkler system is used for occupancy, story increase, and for building area increase. To construct a 4 story wood framed apartment building (Type V-A construction) having a total of 94 dwelling units (total of 295 bedrooms) over a one story podium (Type I-A construction) having parking, assembly, storage, and office use on the grade level. This building will be 5 stories tall and will have a total floor area of about 143,400 square feet (31,225 square feet 1st story, 28,833 square feet 2nd story, 28,859 square feet 3rd story, 28,856 square feet 4th story, and 25,626 square feet 5th story). All dwelling units are required to comply as Type B dwelling units. At least 2 dwelling units are required to comply as Type A dwelling units. Work is to include concrete footings, concrete foundations, concrete shear walls, horizontal 3-hr fire-resistance-rated podium between the 1st and 2nd stories, an insulated suspended gypsum board ceiling installed below much of the podium, exposed insulation installed to the underside of the rest of the podium where there is no conditioned space below, rigid insulation installed on top of the podium where there is no conditioned space above, slab edge insulation, horizontal 1-hr dwelling unit separations, 1-hr dwelling unit separation walls, enclosed 1-hr fire-resistance-rated corridors, enclosed 2-hr fire-resistance-rated stairway enclosures, enclosed 2-hr fire-resistance-rated mechanical shafts, an enclosed 2-hr fire-resistance-rated trash chute (3-hrs on the 1st story), unenclosed pedestrian bridges, 1-hr wood stud exterior walls, 1-hr wood stud interior bearing walls, 1-hr wood joists floors, 1-hr wood truss roofs, exterior wall finishes, exterior windows, interior and exterior doors, millwork, and interior finishes. Special Inspection is required for soils, concrete (including prestressing tendons), steel (including welding and bolting), and seismic resistance. Wood roof trusses and the structural design for the pre-engineered metal pergola at the 5th story roof deck are deferred submittal items. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the structural design, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 and the fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. Separate fire sprinkler permits and fire alarm permits shall be obtained prior to beginning any modification or installation work on such systems. **CJW**
