when we had our conference tues am, michelle didn't have the approval letters i had requested she bring from the historical district and the belgravia assoc. i ask her to drop them off to darla or barb in plan review. as of thurs pm they still hadn't received them, i called allen with bargreen and ask him to call michelle and remind her..i also told allen no more work was to be done until she had done so.

per dixie ...i had several lenghty conversations with michelle and jenifer regarding mortimers and where we stood with the historical society. jenifer and hal will meet with sara tues the 4th, at which time i will know if we will issue a notice to discontinue use of gas kitchen equipment under an illegal hood and grease duct, as these were installed by mr mortimer himself and could cause a fire.

ABOUT THE END OF DECEMBER 2005, IT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT JOHN MORTIMER HAD CHANGED OUT A TYPE 1 HOOD IN HIS RESTAURANT AT 110 S 5TH. LEE RICE AND I MET WITH MR. MORTIMER AND EXPLAINED TO HIM THIS WAS A CODE VIOLATION AS SECTION 507 OF THE IMC REQUIRES ALL COMMERCIAL KITCHEN EQUIPMENT BE DESIGNED BY AN ENGINEER AND INSTALLED BY A LICENSED HEATING CONTRACTOR. WE INSTRUCTED MR. MORTIMER TO CONTACT AN ENGINEER SO WE COULD RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. ON JANUARY 20, 2006 I MET WITH MR. MORTIMER AGAIN AND ISSUED HIM A CORRECTION NOTICE, STATING HE NEEDED TO HIRE AN ENGINEER AND GET THIS DONE AS I FELT IT WAS A LIFE SAFETY CONCERN. THE MIDDLE OF FEBRUARY I CALLED MR. MORTIMER AND HE TOLD ME HE HAD HIRED A HEATING CONTRACTOR, I ASKED HIM ABOUT AN ENGINEER AND HE STATED HE WAS WORKING ON IT. FOR WHAT-EVER REASONS THE HEATING CONTRACTOR DIDN'T TAKE THE JOB. AND THE NEXT ONE DIDN'T EITHER. MR. MORTIMER THEN STATED HE HAD HIRED AN ASSISTANT TO TAKE OVER THE PROJECT AS HE WAS TO BUSY. ON FEBRUARY 21ST A MICHELLE CALLED AND TOLD HE THEY HAD HIRED BOB TIKKER (AN ENGINEER) TO DO THE DESIGN. I WAS ASKED TO MEET MICHELLE AND BOB FOR A CONFERENCE ON MONDAY MARCH 6TH AT 10:00 AT THE RESTAURANT. I CALLED MR. TIKKER SHORTLY BEFORE THE MEETING TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT MY CONCERNS REGARDING THE CODE VIOLATIONS. MR TIKKER STATED HE HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY EITHER MICHELLE OR MR. MORTIMER AND HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON. I WENT TO THE MEETING AND MR. MORTIMER KEPT TRYING TO GET ME TO SAY I HAD SAID CERTAIN STATEMENTS REGARDING THE HOOD EXHAUST NOT BEING ABLE TO TERMINATE ON THE ROOF. I REPLIED TO MR. MORTIMER I HAD NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND HE MUST HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD ME. HE KEPT GOING BACK TO THE SAME ISSUE, SO I ASKED HIM TO CALL MR. TIKKER AND SEE WHY HE WASN'T AT THE MEETING. HE CALLED MR. TIKKER AND SAID HE THOUGHT FOR SURE HE HAD CALLED HIM AND ASKED HIM TO DO THE JOB AND MEET FOR THIS CONFERENCE. WE ALL RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY MARCH 7TH AT 9:00. THE NEXT MORNING WE ALL MET AND LOOKED OVER THE JOB AND DISCUSSED THE MANY CODE VIOLATIONS, SUCH AS CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLES, NO MAKE-UP AIR, THE TERMINATION OF THE EXHAUST LOCATION, ETC. I ASKED MR TIKKER TO DESIGN A PLAN THAT WOULD MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 507 OF THE IMC AND GET BACK TO ME. AT WHICH TIME WE WOULD MEET AND DISCUSS IT. I ASKED MICHELLE TO CONTACT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND THE OWNERS OF THE BELGRAVIA BUILDING TO MAKE SURE WE WOULDN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH THEM. I CALLED MICHELLE ON FRIDAY MARCH 10TH TO ASK HER IF SHE HAD BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OR THE BELGRAVIA OWNERS, SHE DIDN'T RETURN MY CALL ON FRIDAY OR MONDAY THE 10TH. I WILL CALL HER AGAIN ON TUESDAY THE 14TH. AND I WILL CONTACT BOB TIKKER TO SEE IF HE HAS HAD ANY COMMUNICATION WITH MICHELLE OR MR. MORTIMER. I WILL CALL MY SUPERVISOR LEE RICE ON TUESDAY AND LET HIM KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON.
