Went by and talked to the owner about the chimney fire. There had been a wood burning insert prior to this owner. He installed a gas log without a permit and didn't clean the chimney. The dirty chimney caught on fire. The masonry chimney looks like it was extended for new exterior finish with an unapproved extension. He stated he has closed off the fireplace at the hearth and will cap the gas line to the gas log and will not be using the fireplace.
