The fire sprinkler scope of work consists of three level 24-plex apartment building. The 4” underground supplies a 2” backflow preventer and header. The header is equipped with three 2” floor control valves. The floors have 2” mains and 1” branch lines of CPVC with residential sprinklers.

• The underground piping is under permit FIR18-00012.

Permit for a foundation only pending final review of the building plans the foundation has been approved in E-plan and is required to be on site for inspection. CDM

Alternative Materials and Methods:
This project includes approved code alternates to the following fire protection systems and/or building life safety systems. Please review the supplemental documents attached to this building permit case for details. Fire protection “shop drawings” shall include approved code alternate design.

First, second and third floor piping rough-in passed. Piping can be covered. Tenting for third floor piping passed. The only piping that can not be covered is the 2" risers at the third floor since they have not been "caped" as discussed to protect the piping from freezing.

There were no plans for the first floor so the rough-in was not performed, second floor rough-in passed except for plans show a pendant in a bedroom entry that was not installed, third floor is missing a pendant head in a living room and some sort of "cap" is needed to retain heat in the shafts the 2" supply piping is installed in. In short the second floor sprinkler piping can be covered, the first and third can not be covered.


Robert Chambers is the contact for this rough to cover inspection. He will be at another job site so he will need advance notice when meeting time is.
