Meet at 10:00 - Met onsite with The genral manager. They had the PTAC unit pulled out so I could see that they did in fact disable the fresh air intake on the unit. With this being done the installation is in full compliance with the Code that this building was constructed under and the Boiler manufactures installation instructions for venting. I strongly suggested they still add a carbon monoxide sensor to the room just as an extra safty measure. They said they would still take it under consideration.

Follow up - Went by and spoke with the Genral Manager. Brought him up to speed with what was going on. I told him we would need to pull the PTAC unit out of the sleeve to see if there is fresh air being drawn through the unit. I also said I would like to be there when his maintance guy pulls it out so I can verify for myself. We discussed if there is fresh air coming in disabling the fresh air opening so that we won't be potentially pulling flue gases in through the ptac. The other thing I asked them to do is to install a CO sensor in the room so that if for any reason flue gases got in there and reached a dangerous level any occupants in the room would be alerted. He asked me to please email my recommendations to him so he could send them on to his corporate office for approval. I told him I would get them to him in an email.

Went by to inspect a complaint of flue gasses getting into a hotel room. Found boiler vents terminating below a window and PTAC unit of a 2nd floor room. I've went in and spoke with the Hotel Director and made her aware of the compliant. She seems more than willing to work with us on the issue. After researching the Hotel construction and Boiler manuals I found that this is the original installation from 2001. At this time I can't definitively say that the boilers have or haven't been installed per the instruction manual. More investigation is needed. I will meet with the Hotel maintenance worker as soon as possible.
