*DIAMOND LINE DELIVERY* To install two 9' x 9' overhead doors in the existing concrete masonry wall on the west side of the building per approved plans on file. Existing 3,200 sq.ft. building is used for warehouse. Work to include installation of minimum 6" x 4" x 3/8" A36 Grade angle W/ minimum bearing of 8" on each end; bolted connection into grouted masonry; cut out and remove masonry below new angle; all per engineered design attached; and installation of OH doors. Angle to be installed before any masonry is removed. The angle is secured in place by an engineered connection system. Special inspection required per section 1701.5, #15, Special Cases. ENGINEERED DESIGN IS BASED ON MASONRY BLOCK BEING FULLY GROUTED. IF NOT GROUTED SOLID, FURTHER EVALUATION & DESIGN IS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE BUILDING DEPT. FOR APPROVAL FROM THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER & ARCHITECT WITH DESIGN DETAILS FOR CORRECTIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING W/ WORK. See attached plan review comments, considered part of the approved plans. RECEIVED COPY OF LETTER FROM STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, HAROLD J. COX, FROM DOUG TAMURA, TAMURA & ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS STATING THE ENGINEER WOULD ACCEPT THE USE OF THROUGH PENETRATIONS BOLTS IN PLACE OF THE WEDGE ANCHORS OF ORIGINAL PALN SUBMITTAL DESIGN.
THE THROUGH BOLTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE PLACED AT SAME LAYOUT AND EQUAL SIZE AS THE WEDGE ANCHORS, WITH A 3" MIN. WASHER ON THE MASONRY SIDE OF THE WALL AND A REGULAR WASHER ON THE ANGLE SIDE FACE.
THE ANGLE HAVE TO RETAIN THE 8" BEARING AT EACH END, BE SECURED IN PLACE BEFORE ANY REMOVAL OF WALL IS STARTED, BE ATTACHED TO A SOLID GROUTED BOND BEAM, ETC. ALL PER THE ORIGINAL ENGINEERING DETAILS. THE SPECIAL INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS STILL APPLY FOR VERIFICATION OF ALL METHODS & PROCESSES USED TO INSTALL THE SUPPORT SYSTEM ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE STRUCUTRAL ENGINEERS DESIGN.
THE PERMIT HAS BEEN ISSUED AND SO THE REQUEST WILL BE ROUTED TO THE FIELD INSPECTOR, JIM STOREY FOR DISPERSMENT & FIELD REVIEW FOR COMPLIANCE WITH APPROVED PLANS AND THIOS MODIFICATION.
