To remove all interior ceiling grid & components; remove smoke detectors mounted on ceiling tile surface (smoke detectors above the existing ceiling grid to remain in place and active); to remove floor finishes & trim; remove mechanical duct branch lines, diffusers & controls; remove light fixtures, conduit & wiring within rooms 601 & 602 designated on plans; remove partion walls as indicated on plans and maintain the existing fire alarm and sprinkler systems within the entire 6th area, protecting against damage and keeping fully functional during the demolition phase to maintain fire / life safety. NOTE: NO NEW CONSTRUCTION OR USE OF THIS FLOOR AREA IS ALLOWED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THIS PERMIT. Separate plans and application for remodel of the space for future occupancy and use are required. drs

NOTIFIED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THAT AN APPLICATION FOR DEMOLITION OF A MAJOR PORTION OF THE 6TH FLOOR HAS BEEN APPLIED FOR. THE REMODEL OF THE 6TH FLOOR FOR OFFICE USE IN 1992 TRIGGERED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR UPGRADE OF THE BUILDING AS AN EXISTING HIGH RISE FACILITY AND THE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS WERE ESTABLISHED BY AN 'APPEALS BOARD HEARING'. THERE APPEAR TO BE DIFFERENT FEELINGS WITHIN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AT THIS TIME IN REGARDS TO THE OMMISSION OF SPRINKLER SYSTEM IN ANY PART OF THE BUILDING AND THIS WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED WITH THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AS PART OF THE PLAN SUBMITTAL FOR THE REMODEL OF THIS 6TH FLOOR AREA.

CALLED BOB SMITH, ARCHITECT FOR QWEST TO INFORM HIM THAT THE REMODEL OF THIS 6TH FLOOR FROM THE OFFICE USE APPROVED UNDER THE 1992 LETTER OF AGREEMENT ON FILE MAY REQUIRE THE NEW PROPOSED TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE USE TO BE FULLY SPRINKLED RATHER THAN ALLOWING THE CONDITIONS OF SECTION 904.4 (3804, 1991 UBC) TO APPLY. THIS WILL BE DETERMINED THROUGH AGREEMENT AND PROPOSALS WITH THE FIRE & BUILDING DEPARTMENTS AT TIME OF PLAN SUBMITTALS. THE FEELING AT THIS TIME IS THAT THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM WILL HAVE TO BE INSTALLED UNDER FIRE FLOW REQUIREMENTS OF APPENDIX CHAPTER III-A 1997 UFC.
