*THE BARBECUE PIT T.I.* To maintain and remodel an existing 2,720 sq. ft. facility by removing the interior seating fixture's from the dinning room area, removing the carpet floor covering and painting the concrete floor surface; to reinstall the fixed booths & movable tables and chairs to maintain maximum occupant load of 83 in the dinning area; to modify and add new counters to provide a larger employee work area; to remove the ansul spray system from existing hood and cap the gas lines to the hood area, removing all cooking appliances, and installing steel prep tables; to remove a portion of the east side bearing wall in the existing kitchen area to allow for installation / construction of an enclosed masonry barbeque oven pit with supporting foundations per engineered plans; to upgrade restrooms & interior door hardware to provide increased accessability per appendix chapter 11 UBC; and to add a new 1000 gallon grease interceptor per UPC and West Boise Sewer District. All per approved plans, to include plan review comments, conditions and agreements attached to and part of the approved plans regulating this permit scope and the occupancy of this tenant space. Met with marty from Drake Mechanical and Jim Johnson(360) and Stan johnson(352) to survey building for Plumbing code compliance and investigate illegal plumbing work done by unlicensed contractor without permits. Findings:
1. building needs water main premise backflow valve(DCVA) and corresponding thermal expanion tank. 2. need backflow test for outside sprinkler valve. 3. need to immediately disconnect cross connection between potable water and sanitary sewer at pot washing/food prep sink. 4. Disconnect direct connection to sanitary sewer at Pot washing/food prep sink and pipe to floor sink. 5. install rp backflow valve on new line to espresso and coffee machines and have it tested along with existing rp to soda dispenser. also rehang and secure. 6. Fix apparant water leak behind Men's room door. 7. Move soda dispenser to eliminate tripping hazard caused by water line and facilitate drip pan drain and pipe to floor sink. 8. Move and re-rough in any plumbing that might be required in bathrooms as a result of any relocations of plumbing fixtures required for accessibillity for handicapped standards. 9. Repipe water heater pressure relief safety valve drain line according to code. Install grease intercepter as per West Boise Sewer District letter of 12/04/01. 10. install DCVA backflow valve on water supply to Ice maker. 11. Re-install 1/2 inch drain curranly running water onto and across floor to approved location in approved manner. 12. provide grate for floor sink. 13. Call Central District Health for reinpection after above Plumbing Code Corrections.

Conference with permit holder, informed him that his Temp. Occ. had been revoked and structure was not approved for occupancy. Electrical and Plumbing supervisors were also present and issued CN'S requireing permits and inspections by licensed contractors. A site review of reported inprovements to site confirmed that masonry barbecue was still welded shut, a gas line had been added along the new wall seperating kitchen area from front counter, gas burning appliances in this same area without a hood system, and french frying machine being used under the disconnected type I hood which is in violation of plan review item # s 3 & 4.

Approved based on attached plan review conditions, signed agreements between Gregory Carcolice and the PDS plan check division, Planning & CDH, all as part of the approved plans. There is a Deferred Submittal per section 106.2.3.4 of the UBC for the Masonry BBQ Pit Oven construction which needs to be provided, approved and work completed in compliance with code, inspected anf approved before the pit can be used to prepare food.
The steel doors to the PIT have been tack welded closed to prevent use until approval has been given for use by the plan check and inspection divisions of PDS Dept.
Meeting  12/5/2001  
Several meeting with owner / tenant, Greg Cracolie revealed that an enclosed masonry oven pit for BBQ of food has been installed without and approval or permits by the Building or Planning Divisions of PDS Dept. An agreement has been made with the owner that he will serve foods prepared outside of the building until the matter of engineering analysis & details for the structure have been presented, approved and work done per the plan completed, inspected and approved befor the BBQ pit can be used. The preparation of food items that do not give off grease laden vapors is allowed, i.e. heating of soup, toasting of bread, micro waving, etc. Mr. Cracolice has signed a letter agreeing to the conditions of that will allow operation of the restaurant whild working on required plans & code upgrades. A copy is attached to the plans.
