Building plans are conditionally approved subject to further sprinkler analysis. A site visit by Mark Senteno and Sam Rogers determined that FD vehicle access will be acceptable from Exchange St and from the south side delivery truck roadway; see further details under "Meeting" entry of 1/30/09. A separate sprinkler permit will be required to evaluate adequacy of existing sprinkler protection for the proposed 16' high piled storage of Class lV commodities. Commodities are reportedly still spare equipment parts for tools, consisting of metal and plastic parts intermixed, as reported under BLD03-01382 (which was approved for low-piled rack storage only). If the sprinkler analysis shows existing protection is adequate for 16' high storage, that analysis may be re-submitted under this BLD permit, prior to the final inspection, for the sprinkler plan reviewer to review and the fire inspector to field verify. If the sprinkler analysis shows modifications are necessary, a separate sprinkler permit shall be obtained and the sprinkler anaysis shall be included along with that sprinkler application for approval of the proposed sprinkler work.

I discussed my conditional permit approval with Paul Marcolina and he will follow through to get the required sprinkler evaluation prepared and submitted as requested. S Rogers
Meeting  1/30/2008 DONE
Site visit with Asst FM, Mark Senteno on 1/30/2009 to re-evaluate FD access situation. We determined the southside delivery truck access roadway is wide enough to allow a FD vehicle turnaround anywhere within 150' of the most remote end of the parking lot roadway, even presuming a few cars or delivery vehicles may be parked along this roadway. On the opposite side, we determined vehicle truck access is available from Exchange St to within all points of the north sied of the building even though there is a fairly steep embankment up to the level of the building, which will allow the street to be used instead of the deadend northside parking lot roadway (which is over 150' long and does not have room for a FD turnaround). By using these two roadways, all points of the buiding are within 150' of fire truck access points and will be acceptable for approval.
Meeting  7/19/2007 DONE
Discussed again with Paul Marcolina; gave him the annotated plans I had from our 5/9/07 meeting. He will re-draw plans and have ready at next site visit.

Telcon from Paul Marcolina. Compared our notes of the 5/9/07 meeting. Micron will revise their plans to reflect the agreements reached in the meeting, inlcuding designating the FD radways and turnarounds on both sides of the building with pemanent signage or striping in accordance with FD ordinance. Paul indicated it will be ready for review at our next visit.
Meeting  5/9/2007 DONE
Meeting with Dave Hanneman, Fire Marshal, Paul Marcolina and Jerry Van Engen, and Sam Rogers. 1) It was agreed to provide the required FD vehicle turnarounds on both sides of the building 2) Per quick review with Cody Riddle, there are ample parking spaces to allow the elimination of those taken up by the proposed turnaround locations 3) Based on an assumed construction classification of VB and reported 57,270 sf area, the required fire flow is 1650 gpm using a 75% sprinkler credit approved by D Hanneman. 4) Plans show two hydrants on Exchange street near this facility. D. Hanneman agreed that if a turnaround is provided adjacent to the existing hydrant near Exchange Street or the hydrant is relocated to be accessible by short sidewalk distance from the FD turnaround location, NO addtional hydrants will be required on site. 5) D Hanneman approved that no additional exterior door will be required for FD access to the Micron tenant space.

A new site plan was provided for onsite review. This building has inadequate FD access roadways, access man doors (required for high piled storage) and no fire hydrants are shown (3 are needed based on spacing along FD roadway). I annotated the plan to show options for providing FD turnarounds to make the roadways adequate, location of additional man door and of the three hydrants. I discussed this with Jack Fieselman; he will discuss with Paul Marcolina and John Velikoff. A meeting is needed with the building owner and Fire Marshal to discuss the options for providing these improvements, which are necessary for High Piled Storage introduced by Micron. Dave Hanneman advised of the need for a meeting with owner.
Routing - FIRE1/18/2007 1/18/2007 FAIL
Onsite review of aerial photo showing two dead-end FD access roadways exceeding 150' and discussed turnaround options with Paul Marcolina, to be pursued with the building owner.
Routing - FIRE8/11/2006 8/11/2006 FAIL
For approval, need site plan showing FD access roadways and location of fire hydrants. Reviewed/accepted hydraulic calc's verify existing protection will provide 3.30 gpm/3000 sf which is adequate for 16.5' of rack storage of Class IV commodities; 7,000 sf rack stge area will not require s&h vents or FD access doors. unencapsulated. Storage must be maintained at least 18" below sprinklers, (which appears to be close to the 16.5' stge height limit of sprinelr design).
