Meeting with Bill Vandegrift, Mark DuBois of PacWest, who is the local Uponor (Wirsboro) sprinkler system distributor, and the local plumber who wanted to apply for a sprinkler permit. Plans were not accepted since the overhead portion was designed as a 13D system, but the building plans have been issued approved as a condominium. 13D systems are only allowed for 1 & 2 family dwellings and townhouses. Also plans showed a single, metered feed main and control valve, penetrating and serving all three units, which is not allowed for a 13D system or for townhouses. The plumber indicated they have already installed the plumbing/sprinkler piping, both underground and overhead. They indicated the owner is in process of converting the structure to townhouses, but that has not been approved by Subdivision, Building, United Water or the electric utility company. Marlene Southard was also consulted and confirmed that they cannot have common utilities feeding individual townhouses and recommended they get in touch with the architect, civil engineer, United Water and electric utility, and work out the required easements, separate utility connections, and construction details, and submit new plans for the building based on townhouse requirements.
