Remove the thumbturn lock off of the exit door. Keyed hardware is ok. Provide single action hardware on the restroom door. Lever type that unlocks when the handle is pushed is ok. Provide plumbing rotection under the restroom sink for ADA compliance. This burn protection is required.

1. Boise City interpretation to the Ventilation requirements for nail salons pr IMC Table 403.3, footnote b, states that there shall be no recirculation of air in the space. The intent of the IMC is that the exhaust system shall be at point of use. Please revise plans to show the exhaust system to each nail work station and pedicure station. Diffuser at ceiling above nail and pedicure stations does not meet intent of code.
2. Please show on plans, exhaust to exterior per chapter 5 IMC, for product conveying exhaust systems termination requirements.
3. Please show on plans revised ventilation calculations and make up air design. The following web site is a suggestion for further information on ventilation rates. At this time there are no prescriptive standards to follow.(http://ww.cdc.gov/niosh/pdfs/hc28.pdf).
4. Provide section view on plans of exhaust system at nail station and pedicure station.
5. Show on plans separate ventilation requirements per Table 403.3 for outside air design of 25 cfm per person.

Occupancy not previously approved for nail salon. Plumbing and Mechanical needs to be evaluated on site by a mechanical engineer and appropriate plans drawn and submitted to correct unapproved existing plumbing installation and address building mechanical ventilation and additional ventilation system required for nail painting area per 2003 International Mechanical Code. New plumbing to be designed in accordance with 2003 Uniform Plumbing Code. Re-submit plumbing and mechanical plan stamped by licensed mechanical engineer. All plumbing and mechanical work to be permitted and installed by Idaho State licensed contractors.
