Telcon from Larry Lambert, employee at Regency Carpet (###-####) regarding how to comply with the fire inspection requirement to obtain a permit for the existing carpet racks. I explained the need to verify adequate sprinkler protection requirements for carpet rack storage and the seismic bracing of the racks. Explained how to find the correct building permit and fire sprinkler applications on our website. The rack storage arrangement he described will require sprinkler modifications due to the large areas shielded by each tier of storage (described as rolls on racks 2 or 3 levels high). Explained the need to contact an experienced sprinkler contractor to evaluate the existing storage arrangement and sprinkler protection and to assist him in filling out the Sprinkler Rack Storage form. A Tenant Improvement Building Permit application as well as a Sprinkler Permit Application for necessary sprinkler modifications should be submitted together. An alternative would be to store the carpets in solid piles, on the floor, rather than on racks. He will pursue further with the business owner, who is also the building owner.

Provide sprinkler protection in the restroom corridor, mount the "Door to Remain Unlocked...." sticker at the main exit where is is viewable, provide single action hardware as discussed at the south secondary exit door and provide a racking permit for the storage racks in the warehouse area. These racks exceed 8'-0" in height. They are roughly 9'-3" in height with carpet acouple of feet above that. Also the shelving is solid and the carpet and foam rolls are encapsulated. Also cars are being stored in the same area.
