Topic of meeting was to discuss the options for constructing the building addition without fully completing fire sprinkler upgrade of existing building. PDS stafff emphasized the the necessity the rxisting building be fully fire sprinklered prior to any additional building increase. PDS staff suggested phasing project, with fire sprinkler upgrade completion to occur in existing portions unitl completed; at which time continue with proposed building addition as proposed. Several building code and fire code allowances are dependant upon successful completion of the building fire sprinkler system upgrade. (ie: Fire Flow, allowable building area ,etc.)

Telcon from Diane Steinbronn, CTA arch's (###-####) requesting a meeting to discuss sprinkler requirements for the school, with the objective being to get our approval to omit sprinklers in small concealed spaces and other areas. I confirmed that we have to follow NFPA 13 requirements to approve the sprinkler system; the engineers designing the sytem should evaluate those spaces in accordance with NFPA 13. I requested she wait to meet with us until we have completed the buiding and fire reviews and then they can approach us with specific compliance concerns they may have and alternative designs or specific phasing proposals. She will do that.
