(NEW ENTRY STAIR & UPGRADE OF TWO EXISTING STAIR ENCLOSURES) (FRANKLIN PLAZA) This building is fully sprinklered as substitution for 1-hour construction. Upgrade Agreement on this building attached to this case. Upgrade involves modifying the interior stairs enclousre to serve only three levels to allow existing 1-hour construction. The support columns for the 1-hour enclosure are required to be individually wrapped for 1-hour fire resistance at the first and second floors. columns at third and fourth floors can be encapsulated within the 1-hour wall construction. The beams between supporting columns cary the live and dead load of one floor so they can be encapsulated in the 1-hour enclosure wall. The interior stair will serve as exit from the 4th, 3rd & 2nd floors with a new main entry & exit from the 2nd floor to grade. The existing structure supporting the second floor has an existing 1-hour fire-proof spray throughout. The interior stair will be walled off at the first level, no longer an exit and a 60" high fixed guard rail will be installed at the top of the stairs to prevent use of the stairs to the first floor. A sign will be posted on the new guardrail indicating the enclosure no longer serves the first floor. The door to the enclosure on the 2nd floor will be reversed to swing out of the enclosure in direction of egress. The exterior stair will have the existing framed portion toward the interior of the building upgraded to comply as a 2-hour rated assembly. A steel joist that penetrates the new 2-hour framed wall will also be framed in and covered with (2) layers of 5/8" type X for the full length of the joist as indicated on plans. Doors into the 2-hour enclosure will be upgrades with 90-minute door, frame & hardware assemblies at all four floors. Floor levels will be identified per Sec. 1020.1.6 IBC, within enclosure. Installation of new exterior doors, sidelights, hardware, landing, stairs, guard and handrails from 2nd floor to grade and installation of a non-combustible frame awning, supported from the building at new entry / egress. SPECIAL INSPECTION is required for installation of HILTI Kwik Bolt TZ anchors in accordance with ESR-1917 ATTACHED TO FRONT OF PLANS WITH ENGINEERING DESIGN DATA. drs
