THE OCCUPANT LOAD OF THE MAIN TEMPLE BUILDING WAS CHANGED FROM 1,070 TO 995. IN ADDITION TO REVISED OCCUPANT LOADS FOR SOME ROOMS, THE CENTER ASSEMBLY ROOM HAVING AN OCCUPANT LOAD OF 48 IN THE GROUP OF FIVE ASSEMBLY ROOMS WAS CONSIDERED TO BE ACCESSORY FOR OCCUPANT LOAD) (9-16-11 PLAN MODIFICATION TO RELOCATED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTION AND THE POST INDICATOR VALVE AND TO REPLACE MUCH OF THE HANGING CATWALK WITH NON-HANGING CATWALK) (8-24-11 PLAN MODIFICATION SUBMITTED ON AUGUST 15, 2011 FOR EAST MOMENT FRAME AT GRID 23 WAS APPROVED.) The fire sprinkler system is used for building area increase and for fire area. A 2,000 square foot maintenance shop and storage basement located on the South side of the main Temple Building was demolished under permit BLD11-01606. Interior nonstructural demolition within the main Temple Building was also covered under that permit. The pump house and dumpster enclosure was constructed under permit BLD11-01333. To construct a 5,050 square foot Grounds Shop, Engineering/Maintenance, Boiler Room, and Chiller Room basement addition in the place of the demolished maintenance shop and storage basement (i.e. on the South side of the main Temple Building). Work is to include concrete footings, 24” diameter concrete piers 10 feet long, concrete foundations, masonry walls, concrete stairways, interior frame walls, interior wall furring, steel columns, steel beams, steel roof deck, steel grate floor and stairs, roof insulation installed on top of the roof deck, single ply roof membrane, roof drains and secondary roof drains, roll-up over head door, exterior and interior doors, an exterior window, and a restroom/shower room accessible to the disabled. The Temple grounds will also be altered. Work is to include new concrete sidewalks, new concrete stairways, new concrete retaining walls and planters, new landscaping, a new decorative water fountain, benches, stepping stones to define egress paths through plant areas, and drinking fountains. The perimeter fence will also be modified in some locations. Concrete piers, concrete foundations, and steel fence sections will be installed. To also remodel the interior of the main Temple Building and to construct a 400 square foot 1 story addition (Northwest corner). Work is to include suspended gypsum board ceilings, remodeled restrooms, and interior finishes. Structural work includes concrete footings, concrete foundations, a concrete slab on grade, columns, beams, roof joists, steel moment frames, shear walls, and a new concrete and steel main stairway. Much of the existing mechanical mezzanine located in the center of the building will be re-constructed. Work is to include new shear walls, new steel beams, new floor joists, and new floor sheathing. Mechanical access platforms, including some suspended catwalks, will also be constructed above hallways. This building will be fire sprinklered throughout in conjunction with this permit. The work is required to comply with the approved drawings, with the plan review report, and with all applicable codes and ordinances. The fire sprinkler system is required to comply with NFPA 13 as regulated by the Fire Department. The fire alarm system is required to comply with NFPA 72 as regulated by the Fire Department. **CJW**

Plan Modification (4) accepted for the south corner of the Annex Entrance building to the west end of the facility has over the years received several additions and infill project remodels. The southern corner at grid line 3 needs to resolved with a previous exterior wall of an earlier addition. See sheet A102 and A111. The work involved with the plan modification involves removing the exterior marble tiles, building a new wall with footings and extending the slab to fill in floor at the corner as the walls are being aligned at this corner. Additionally these sheets indicate a change to the roof repairs and duct work weatherproofing. None of the work on the roof will be visible from the immediate or adjoining properties. Earlier design for exposed duct work on the roof would have been, thus this change. Submitted on plan sheets A102, A111, A113; routed to Carl Westfall.

I requested Tim Frost to accompany me to this project to verify possible issues with combustible concealed spaces that I had found on the previous days courtesy inspection. We found many areas which have not been provided upright sprinkler protection and when protection is provided will require many additional sprinkler heads. Per the city approved plans only pendant protection below the ceilings has been provided in these areas. I spoke to the sprinkler fitter and let him know that Plan Modifications will be required. I also spoke to Frank and Ricardo with Jacobsen Construction about a possible stop work order if any more piping is covered and the possibility of removing ceilings just to inspect what has already been installed and covered. No sprinkler rough-in inspections have been performed to this point. I notified Scott and Romeo of the situation.

Plan Modification (3) accepted for Bld10-02069 (LDS Temple remodel and addition) because the code sheets F101 and F102 were re-evealuated for code occupancy to show the total occupant load below 1000 occupants. An attached spread sheet has also been included in this application to clearly show the differences and totals. The architect's reveiw of each of the spaces generally followed the numbers calculated by the City with only a few minor differences. In waiting areas 133, 138, and 151 also serve as circulation corridors. The non circulation square footage of these rooms was recalculated to show the non circulation spaces in these rooms. An additional Plan Mod will be following to show room changes in the plans for the Chapel 135 and Office areas 42. As well as vestibule 100. The owner has made these changes to the plans since permitting; submitted on plan sheets F101 and F102; routed to Carl Westfall.

Plan Modification accepted for Bld10-02069 (LDS Temple remodel & addition) for the existing 6" water main running under the previous grounds maintenance shop on the south side of the property will be abandoned by United Water to a point East of the property fence along Cole Rd at the current tie in location. From there the fire protection devices a FDC and a PIV will connect to that water main to supply the fire riser and building sprinkler system. United water also requested that no fire hydrant be connected to this line. The existing hydrant at the SW corner of the building will be abandoned. Plan Modification accepted for Bld10-02069 (LDS Temple Remodel and Addition) for the lateral system along grid 23(s305) has been strenghtened from the original (7/23/11) drawings so as to replace the existing lateral systems capacity, part of which is to be removed as originally proposed. A steel moment frame will replace the existing steel strap bracing. Actual as-built conditions that were not observed in the as-bilt drawings have prompted this modification. Submitted on plan sheet S305 and structural calcs; routed to Carl Westfall.
